I was trying to follow the South Beach Diet at the time. I had introduced a lot of sugar-free products in my diet that contained Splenda--especially the new ice creams that had it in them. Anyway, I was racking my brian for answers to why I would suddenly be having these attacks when I had never experienced them before. Like MS's story, I am a stay-at-home mom and I wasn't under any unusually stressful circumstances. I went through my mind trying to figure out if there was something I was eating that I might be allergic to and I came to the same conclusion she did--Splenda was the only new thing I had been consuming. I immediately cut it out of my diet completely, and the panic attacks stopped abruptly.

Last night, I experienced the return of one of these attacks for no reason at all. I couldn't believe it--I have been so cautious not to eat anything with Splenda in it. I started going over everything I had eaten that day--nothing that I could pinpoint to Splenda.  Then, a thought hit me. I had been chewing gum. I went over the ingredients on the package and, sure enough, it had both Nutrasweet and Splenda in it. I couldn't believe it!  It was proof to me that I can't touch this stuff without a reaction.

I wanted to see if anyone else has had similar panic attacks from Splenda, as well. I looked it up on the internet and read the story of MS about her experience. It was verification to me that Splenda has something in it that's pretty potent to cause such horrible symptoms. I also think there should be warnings put out about it also.
