| On 18 August 2006, we received this note from 57 concerning their use of sucralose. |

| "Four years ago, I began using Splenda on a regular basis in an effort to reduce carbs and calories. Soon, I began having major pain and bloating in my upper right abdomen. Sometimes this was followed by diarrhea. These problems were almost daily. My doctor suspected gall bladder disease, even though I made no connection between my symptoms and the eating of greasy meals.
During the next year, I had two ultrasounds and a nuclear scanning test for gall bladder disease. I finally had a colonoscopy. The tests showed nothing that would cause these symptoms. I eventually realized the symptoms occurred an hour or so after I ingested foods or drinks sweetened with Splenda or sucralose. After I discontinued Splenda/sucralose, the symptoms disappeared almost completely. The symptoms reoccurred at their worst on three occasions. On each of these occasions, I had consumed without thinking foods that contained sucralose. Now, I read labels carefully to avoid the ingredients and have now eliminated the symptoms." Thank you 57 for sharing your story with our visitors. |
